A medium-bodied red wine with aromas of dark fruits, dried plum, and fresh sage with hints of woody spice. Enticing flavors of cranberry and roast fig on the palate mingle with subtle notes of white pepper and sweet tobacco, with mellow, sweet tannins and a lingering finish.
This vineyard is located just 9 miles northeast of the town of Napa in Wooden Valley, a small valley only two miles across at its widest point and nestled between the Vaca mountain range to the east and Napa Mountain to the west. Formed by volcanic activity, it boasts a variety of soil types, as well as a rolling topography.
The 2015 vintage was also of high quality, but very low yields in many varieties. The harvest will also be remembered as one of the earliest ever. The relatively dry and warm winter resulted in small clusters of grapes with highly concentrated flavors yielding wines of deep, rich flavors and excellent quality with deep color and lovely fruit aromas.
Food Pairing Notes
A food-friendly wine, excellent to pair with pork tenderloin with roasted figs, rigatoni with sausage and peppers, and roasted pear stuffed with ricotta and thyme.
