ACCOLADES

James Suckling (93 Points)

"A solid cab with an excellent depth of fruit and core of tannin backbone. Black currant, walnut and dark chocolate undertones with ripe tannins. Shows reserve and focus. Better in 2018 but delicious now."

Wine Profile
Ratings
♦ 93 Points, James Suckling - "A solid cab with an excellent depth of fruit and core of tannin backbone. Black currant, walnut and dark chocolate undertones with ripe tannins. Shows reserve and focus. Better in 2018 but delicious now." ♦ 92 Points, Wine Enthusiast Magazine, Virginie Boone - "Juicy black and red cherry flavors enwrap classic cedar, graphite and peppercorn notes in this brawny, full-bodied wine. Accessible despite its bulk of tannin, its texture leans leathery, with clove scents lingering long on the finish."
Production Notes
2013 was a stunning vintage that produced absolutely remarkable wines – possibly even better than the magnificent 2012 ‘nearly perfect’ wines. Both growing seasons were dry and early ripening, which brought the fruit to full maturity while avoiding fall rains. The temperatures were on the cool side which retained excellent acidity and wonderful aging potential. The 2013 reds are complex and full-bodied, classic Napa Valley style.
Winemaker Notes
A blend of fruit from some of the best Cabernet Sauvignon growing regions in Napa Valley, including our own Diamond Mountain District estate vineyard which surrounds the Castello. A touch of Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Malbec balance the rich dark fruit and tannins of the Cabernet, adding a vibrancy to its lush mouthfeel and lingering finish.
Food Pairing Notes
This bold yet well-balanced wine makes a perfect accompaniment to grilled meat dishes
Other Notes
Shows excellent aging potential for the next fifteen years.
