· Jeb Dunnuck (96 Points)
"The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Butala Vineyard comes from the cooler Coombsville region of the valley and is 93% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Merlot. As always with wines from this region, it shines for its purity and elegance, with pretty notes of cassis and blue fruits, violets, spring flowers, and green tobacco. Showing classic lead pencil and cedar with time in the glass, this beauty is medium to full-bodied and has a pure, elegant texture, ripe tannins, and a great finish. Those who love the more finesse-driven, seamless side to Napa will love this."
· Antonio Galloni, Vinous (95 Points)
This is another strong wine in this range. Inky red fruit, blood orange, mint, rose petal and cedar race out of the glass. Opulent and yet bright, with terrific energy, the Butala has a ton to offer in the classic Castello di Amorosa style that is all about exuberance."
· James Suckling (93 Points)
"Blackcurrant, dried blueberry, crushed walnut and praline on the nose. It’s medium-bodied with sleek, integrated tannins. So flavorful, fresh and chewy all at once. Drink or hold."
- The Wine Independent (93 Points)
The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Butala Vineyard has 7% Merlot in the blend. Deep garnet-purple in color, it comes barreling out with bold notes of plum preserves, boysenberries, and blackcurrant jelly, followed by touches of bay leaves and tobacco leaf. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is savory and chewy with earthy nuances on the finish." - Lisa Perrotti-Brown
