Vineyard Notes

IL Barone is a blend of the Castello’s top high-end Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards from the best growing regions of Napa Valley. The majority of the fruit is sourced from the Rutherford AVA, a region famed for producing beautifully structured complex Cabernet Sauvignon.

Production Notes

The 2019 year has been one of contrasts and challenges in Northern California. A cool, very rainy winter with flooding in the North Coast, some mud-slides followed by hot spells, windy and inclement weather during bloom and flowering- just another average year! The cool spring, clear, sunny month of June and moderate temperatures through July and August allowed the vines to develop grapes in pristine conditions. By late summer things started to warm up and continued through early September to bring sugars and the concentration of flavors to ideal levels...Overall, the 2019 Vintage looks to be another fabulous year for wine!

I bought a 2015 Il Barone in 2020 and finally just opened it. It was as good as I remember in the tasting. So smooth and light for a cab. Best cab I have ever had. Only negative was the cork seemed to disintegrate when trying to remove it, and it took quite some finesse to finally get it out. However, it was definitely worth the effort. I would recommend this wine to all wine lovers.

I absolutely love this wine! I have a 2013 bottle that I am saving for a super special occasion! But the 2019 is fabulous !
