ACCOLADES

Specialty Sweeps Winner at the 2025 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition: Top Specialty wine of this leading domestic wine competition.  The SFCWC Judges noted, "As rich, sweet and concentrated as this late-harvest Gewurztraminer may be, it streaks across the palate with vitality, thanks in large part to its high-pitched acidity. The fruit is all curling and flashing grapefruit, apple and lemon, concentrated to their essence by the "noble rot" botrytis cinerea. In the final sweepstakes round at the 2025 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, the Castello di Amorosa was elected the best specialty wine."

We are honored to have the 2023 Late Harvest Gewurztraminer elected as the best sweet wine of the competition.

Vineyard Notes
This Castello Estate vineyard is located just south of the town of Boonville in Anderson Valley, a coastal valley region famed for Burgundian and Alsatian varieties. The vineyard was planted in the late 1990’s to Pinot Noir, Pinot Grigio, Gewürztraminer, and Riesling.
Production Notes
A succulent and deliciously spicy white wine loaded with aroma and flavor, made in a "Noble Rot" dessert, or very sweet, style.
Winemaker Notes
Because of the mid-level alcohol content and high residual sugar the late harvest Gewurtz will continue to evolve for the next 10+ years. We just served a 2007 at one of our member dinners and it was stunning!
Food Pairing Notes
Ideal with after dinner desserts of chocolate torte, crème brulee or baked fruit with an artisanal cheese selection.
Other Notes
This wine is exclusively available for purchase directly from Castello di Amorosa and is not sold through other retailers.
