Receiving its AVA status in 1983, Carneros area was the first wine region in California to be defined by its climate characteristics rather than political boundaries. Rich aromas of black cherry, blackberry and dried sage lead to notes of dark fruits with plush tannins, balanced acidity, and hints of smoky caramel from aging in French oak barrels.
