This limited release wine is a wonderful example of the unique terroir of Pritchard Hill, touted for its steep, well-drained sloped and rugged volcanic soils. Melanson Vineyard rests high on the eastern hills which overlooks Lake Hennessey in the Napa's eastern mountains. Inky black in color, black fruit aromas and earthy notes show the intensity and character of this wine. Intense fruit is framed by a very sturdy and age worthy tannin structure. This wine will age elegantly for the next 10-15 years.
• Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media (95 Points)
- "A dark, voluptuous wine, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Melanson Vineyard impresses for its texture, depth and overall balance. Dark red stone fruits, spices, new leather and menthol meld together in a seamless wine. There is plenty of supporting structure, but the tannins are nearly buried, as the fruit is so radiant and expressive. This is a gorgeous wine from Castello di Amorosa."
• Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate (94 Points)
- "The dense ruby/purple-tinged 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Melanson Vineyard is filled with blueberry and raspberry characteristics as well as exceptional purity, a medium to full-bodied mouthfeel, good acidity and freshness, a vigorous exuberance and an ethereal style. This fascinating 2013 should drink well for 15+ years."
