Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
The volcanic soils of this hillside vineyard give this Cabernet Sauvignon a firm structure, with intense notes of blackcurrant, cassis and green olive. Bold yet with a supple texture and balanced tannins, this wine shows layers of ripe cherry, juicy berry flavors and cedar.
Ratings
This polished and beautifully concentrated wine offers light wood smoke, cardamom and deep blueberry aromas followed by dark chocolate, black plum and a hint of espresso. Firm, fine-grained tannins interlace with the black fruits for a good grip on the palate.
Vineyard Notes
Diamond Mountain District is one of the northern-most growing regions in Napa Valley, and is home to Castello di Amorosa. The volcanic soils and sloped landscape characteristic of the mountain limit grapevine growth leading to an especially concentrated Cabernet Sauvignon.
Winemaker Notes
The 2019 year has been one of contrasts and challenges in Northern California. A cool, very rainy winter with flooding in the North Coast, some mud-slides followed by hot spells, windy and inclement weather during bloom and flowering- just another average year! The cool spring, clear, sunny month of June and moderate temperatures through July and August allowed the vines to develop grapes in pristine conditions. By late summer things started to warm up, and continued through early September to bring sugars and the concentration of flavors to ideal levels...Overall the 2019 Vintage looks to be another fabulous year for wine!
Food Pairing Notes
Excellent to pair with steak with cocoa and coffee rub, chicken mole, hearty mushroom dishes or grilled meats.
