• Wine Enthusiast Magazine (91 Points)

"Ripe peach, sharp Meyer lemon-juice, pineapple and butterscotch aromas come through on this bottling by a winery that was nearly losed in the glass fire. Theres a briny character to the sip, where dried honeysuckle and Meyer lemon-peel flavors slide into a caramel finish."

• Wine Review Online, Rich Cook (93 Points)

"Fasten your seatbelts for a wild full throttle ride on this bold, racy Chardonnay. You may feel like it's about to fly apart under its power, but with Brooks Painter and Peter Velleno at the wheel, crossing the finish line is no problem at all. Bright apple and lemon fruit, lively spice and sweet oak toast get bold acid balance and stay on the road long after the checkered flag. Apologies for the race car metaphors here, but a chariot race just wouldn't cover it this vintage.

The weight and silky texture really entices as layers of baked gala apple, vanilla cream and the dusting of salinity really come together nicely on the palate. Fresh and showing great energy, this beautiful wine will cellar well over the next decade. Drink 2020-2030." - 92 Points, Washington Wine Blog, Own Bargreen
Vineyard Notes
Bien Nacido Vineyard is an iconic American vineyard located in the Santa Maria Valley along the Central California coast, which has been producing highly acclaimed wines for over 40 years. It has been named one of the top 25 vineyards in the world by Wine & Spirits Magazine,a nd one of the top Grand Cru vineyards in California by Wine Enthusiast Magazine.
Winemaker Notes
Winter provided a record-breaking rainfall - a welcome end to the 4-years of drought. Bloom and fruit set in May occurred under ideal conditions. Summer was warm but the vines weathered the heat well and maturity moved along at a steady pace. A short but intense heat wave during the first part of September brought brix levels up dramatically and winemakers waited for the pH, acids, flavor and color development in the grapes to catch up to sugar accumulation. The 2018 wine quality shows a lot of bright acidity and fresh varietal aromas in the white wines, and deep color, sweet fruit flavors. Looking like it will be another classic year! - Brooks Painter, Director of Winemaking
Food Pairing Notes
An excellent full-bodied wine to pair with chicken cordon bleu, lobster bisque, or crab cakes

I had a lot of chardonnay in my life. But this is IT.

An easy 4.5 wine in my opinion. Awesome winery, amazing vineyard in Santa Barbera, this wine is so incredible and delivers in all directions. The nose is rich with creme brûlée, burnt caramel, orange zest, honey-roasted almonds, pears, apples, and buttered toast. The palate is smooth, sweet but not too sweet, and creamy beyond belief! It has a velvety finish with just a hint of honeysuckle. I strongly recommend this wine to any chardonnay lover. Clink and drink to this fantastic piece of art!
