2019 PINOT NOIR, Los Carneros

2019 PINOT NOIR, Los Carneros

Cool maritime air of the Los Carneros region coupled with warm, sunny days yields this silky Pinot Noir. Rich aromas of black cherry, blackberry and dried sage lead to notes of dark fruits with plush tannins, balanced acidity, and hints of smoky caramel from aging in French oak barrels.

The Los Carneros AVA includes both the famous wine growing regions of Sonoma & Napa counties. Receiving its AVA status in 1983, Carneros area was the first wine region in California to be defined by its climate characteristics rather than political boundaries.

ACCOLADES

• Wine Review Online (93 Points)

"Here is a bold Pinot Noir that’s long on aromas and flavors of tart raspberry, fall spice and zippy citrus zest, the latter of which serves to keep everything bright and mouth-watering.  It’s the type of Pinot Noir that will appeal to a wide audience, either as a solo glass or a pair for chicken, salmon, turkey or lean beef."

• Wine Enthusiast Magazine (92 Points)

"This flavorful and well-polished wine offers a delicious blend of raspberries and black cherries on a texture of light tannins and good acidity. It is well-balanced, smooth around the edges and lingers long on the finish" - Jim Gordon

Vineyard Notes
Los Carneros is the southernmost AVA in the Napa Valley, and is the only Napa County AVA that overlaps into Sonoma County. Its close proximity to the San Pablo Bay allows for much cooler climates compared to the rest of the valley, making it a perfect growing location for Burgundian varietals such as Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Production Notes
The 2019 year has been one of contrasts and challenges in Northern California. A cool, very rainy winter with flooding in the North Coast, some mud-slides followed by hot spells, windy and inclement weather during bloom and flowering- just another average year! The cool spring, clear, sunny month of June and moderate temperatures through July and August allowed the vines to develop grapes in pristine conditions. By late summer things started to warm up, and continued through early September to bring sugars and the concentration of flavors to ideal levels...Overall the 2019 Vintage looks to be another fabulous year for wine!
Food Pairing Notes
Pair this versatile wine with grilled pork chops, stuffed mushrooms with wild rice, or grilled summer vegetables.
