91 pts - Ken's Wine Guide

"This pale yellow colored Chardonnay opens with a mild pineapple bouquet with a hint toasted oak and lemon. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and easy to drink. The flavor profile is a very tasty mild pear with notes of toasted oak and a touch of pineapple. The finish is dry and its flavors linger for quite some time. This Chardonnay would pair well with chicken Francese."

91 pts - Rich Cook, WineReviewOnline

"This wine bolsters my hope that Chardonnay is making a comeback as a wine that is meant to accompany a meal.  Still the number one wine variety in sales domestically, Chardonnay has ridden market research into the cocktail hour and forsaken its noble European history as an excellent wine for the table.  Winemakers Peter Velleno and Brooks Painter have chosen a different track here, with aromas of lemon crème, mild toast, pear and stone minerality leading you into flavors of mixed citrus fruit, mild sweet oak and roasted nuts, all delivered with mouth watering acidity and a long refreshing finish that will elevate the meal.  I’d try something big with this -- lobster or cracked crab, or chicken in a bold sauce."

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
This pale straw colored wine shows a toasty oak and buttery bouquet opening up to aromas of ripe citrus, pear and grapefruit. The influence of “sur-lies” aging is apparent, providing a creamy texture and nuances of toasted bread. The initial taste impression is supple, round and textured, followed by mouth-watering fruit flavors and an excellent acid balance. The lingering aftertaste has citrus and mineral overtones and a sweet, woody finish of vanilla and hints of toasted nuts. This Chardonnay rich and supple, finishing lively and crisp.

Vineyard Notes
Chardonnay grapes harvested from a vineyard at the south end of the Napa Valley Appellation, where the cool San Francisco Bay breezes are ideal for this variety.
Production Notes
100 % Barrel fermentation, 50% new French oak barrels, all aged “sur lie” (on the yeast) for 10 months and stirred to re-suspend the yeast, enhancing aromas and adding texture and volume to the mouth.
Food Pairing Notes
Pair this with mild cheses and lighter roasted meats like chicken, shellfish or pork with a rich sauce. This is a lovely compliment to glazed vegetables as well.
